Partnership Working

In order to advance our main aim of helping people to recover from substance misuse we often work in partnership with other organisations.

We understand partnerships to be joint working involving otherwise independent bodies co-operating to achieve a common goal, involving the sharing of relevant information, risks and rewards

We are currently involved in several partnerships as follows:

  • Forth Valley College. The college provides services in kind and deploys tutors to our Falkirk premises to work with service users who participate in our community rehabilitation service.
  • Clackmannanshire Healthier Lives (CHL). The CHL is multi-agency initiative that addresses health inequalities and poverty through using a holistic approach to address individuals’ and families’ needs. The initiative is currently operationally managed by Signpost Recovery and we have deployed a full time addictions worker – counsellor to the CHL who is embedded within Signpost Recovery’s Alloa premises.
  • Prisons. Forth Valley has three prison establishments within the NHS Forth Valley catchment area, Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) and Young Offenders Institute (YOI) Cornton Vale, Stirling, HMP Glenochil, Clackmannanshire, HMP Polmont YOI, Falkirk . We have a dedicated counsellor deployed to each prison.
  • Circle. Circle is a national third sector organisation that supports the most disadvantaged and difficult-to-engage children and families to improve their lives and promote their healthy potential and development. Circle provides a Women’s Outreach Team in South and North Lanarkshire to support vulnerable women involved with the Criminal Justice System and we have deployed a full time addictions worker – counsellor to the Team.

Membership of local bodies

ASC is currently a member of the three third sector interfaces that operate across Forth Valley. Third sector interfaces are voluntary organisations or partnerships that are recognised by the Scottish Government and they support, promote, develop and advocate the interests and role of the third sector locally.

  • Council of Voluntary Service (CVS) Falkirk and District
  • Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE)
  • Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSI)

We are also members of the Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce – a network of businesses across Central Scotland

Membership of national bodies

  • Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) – a membership-based drugs policy and information organisation and is a national resource of expertise on drug issues
  • Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs (SFAAD) – provides support to family members and friends who have been affected by the substance misuse of a relative or loved one, and raises awareness of the issues affecting them.
